Bay Team 2006

President's Year-End Message and Service Awards

Presented by President Tania Chadwick at our annual meeting and awards party, January, 2007:

I can't believe that the year has passed so quickly. The first year of my term has been interesting and I look forward to my remaining time.

First, I would like to thank my fellow Board members for their support throughout the year. Especially Wendy and Garril who were there to answer all my many questions and helped me find my way.

I'd also like to thank the following:

  • Ellen Finch for maintaining the Bay Team website.
  • Natalie Bayless and Arlene Watson for taking care of all of our awards for USDAA and CPE trials.
  • Mardee Jang for being our super WAG Czar.

First: Bay Team Supporting Stars

I would like to recognize these three folks for their support of the club and every one of us as members.

  • Anyone that has competed at our trials last year knows this smiling and pleasant individual.
    • Always upbeat even when the day has run long.
    • Committed to doing a great job and ensuring our reputation as one of the most efficient and organized agility clubs.
I'd like to recognize Joe Root, the best gate steward around. Thank you Joe, for your support to the Bay Team.
  • The second individual is always there to help with set-up and tear down, builds courses all day, and competes. However, this person really made an impression with a special tool for the Club to use--maybe you've seen the big blue cart--it's called the Uber Kart! This was built by Jim Westbrook. Thank you Jim, for your contribution to the club and your continued dedication to our success.
  • Finally, I'd like to recognize our third Supporting Star.
    • This person helped us to be able to respond to many calls for modernization by the Club.
    • to bring us out of the purely paper world and into the cybercash world
Thanks goes to Holly Newman for setting up Pay Pal for the Club. We look forward to seeing all the great ideas Holly has to bring Pay Pal into other areas of club business.
Second: Caninitarian of the Year

I wanted to carry on the tradition started by Wendy Bruce last year to recognize someone who puts themselves out there and does good for the canine community in general and as a whole.

This person stepped up and volunteered to take on a responsibility that directly affected thousands of people. This was something that we all came to rely on and there was a tremendous amount of anxiety when we heard that it was going away.

The thought that we would be alone and left to fend for ourselves was almost too much to bear. Thankfully, this person was just crazy enough to step in and save us from what was sure to become a scheduling hell.

I would like to recognize Erika Maurer for teaming up with me to bring the online agility calendar back to life. Erika hosts the site and updates the calendar at least once a week.

Thank you Erika for keeping the agility community in the States of California, Arizona and Nevada informed and organized!

Finally: Bay Teamer of the Year

There is something to be said when you see someone's name appear year after year in the Bay Team awards list. Dedication...commitment...responsibility...loyalty...all describe this person.

Not only do they help with set up and tear down at every trial, USDAA and CPE, but they also Chief a ring at every trial.

And not just for The Bay Team...it seems at just about every Northern California trial.

And now...this super star increased their involvement by Chairing two USDAA trials a year!!!

I'd like to recognize Mike Scannell for all his amazing dedication to The Bay Team and dog agility as a whole.
