The Bay Team has held only one event at Stanford. There were difficulties with the arrangements; no other dog events (apparently) have taken place there, so there was much waffling on Stanford's part. After we had agreement (we thought) to use a nice maintained field and had sent out the premium, the location was changed out from under us to Wilbur Field, which is a rough, gopher-hole-filled field.
Remains to be seen whether we will try Stanford again--it was generally a pleasant location and easy to get to, but Wilbur Field is not a good place for agility (see Notes below).

Directions
|
From 280: Take the Page Mill exit towards Palo Alto/Stanford. Take Page Mill 1 mile to the 2nd light, Junipero Serra Blvd. Turn left. Take the first right (.4 mi.) at the light onto Stanford Ave. Go .7 miles and turn left at the stop sign onto Bowdoin St; follow it .4 miles to Campus Drive. Follow the directions from *** below.
From 101: Take the Oregon Expressway exit to Palo Alto. Take Oregon Expressway (not Embarcadero, which shares this off-ramp) for 3 or 4 miles, to the El Camino intersection (Oregon's name changes to Page Mill here), and turn right. Turn left onto Stanford Ave, then eventually right onto Bowdoin St.; follow it to Campus Drive.
***Go straight across Campus Drive into the parking area and drive to the end.

Notes
|
Main area for setting up shelters & dogs is immediately underneath dorm windows, creating resentment of residents being woken at 6 or 7 on a weekend.
Access road through site makes unloading easy but also provides access to residence halls, and many people didn't slow down while driving through the area (although it's only a one-lane access road, not a through street).
One side of lawn is along a through street; speed limit is 25 and there are stop signs, but The Bay Team erected plastic fencing to prevent accidents.
Lawn very uneven with deep holes for sprinkler heads & gophers.
Only one electrical outlet with no access to circuit breaker. (We ran coffee pots and 2 speaker systems with no problems.)
