[edit] What can I do without a username or password?

You can do most normal club activities without knowing your username or password. You do not need to know your username:

  • To USE bay team email lists, e.g., sending email to or receiving email from all (at) bayteam (dot) org.
  • To READ bay team's web site, regular or wiki.
  • To READ NONMEMBER topics on the Bay Team forum.

[edit] When do I need my log-in information?

You do need user info and a password for the following:

  • Bay Team forums: Read or post to member-only topics.
  • Wiki site: Editing (such as updating your dog's titles).
  • Email lists: To change your own email address or password or to get your email in digest format-- or you can contact info (at) bayteam (dot) org and ask for it)

[edit] How do I remember my usernames and passwords?

Unfortunately, each of our services has different log-in requirements. This is confusing, we know. Sorry.

You usually get an email with a username and password whenever an account is set up for you on any of our services.

Tip 1
Save those emails in a safe place. Maybe create an email box titled "Bay Team passwords".
Tip 2
Consider immediately changing the password on any new account to the same p/w as your other accounts if it'll let you, so you don't have to remember multiple ones.

[edit] Forum log-in

What is my user name?
We create it for you as your first initial plus last name (for example, jsmith). (But see also #About duplicate member names.)
What is my password/what if I forgot my password?
When we signed you up for the forum, you should have received an email with your username and password. If you didn't, or have lost it:
  1. Go to the Bay Team forum and click the login link.
  2. On the login page, click Forgot your password?, which displays another page.
  3. Fill in your user name (not email address) in the user/email box and click Send. It should email you a new password. If it doesn't, contact us.
How can I change my forum password?
Go to forum instructions.

[edit] Wiki (web site) log-in

What is my user name?
When you request a web site log-in from the webmaster, we create it for you as your first initial plus last name (for example, jsmith). (But see also #About duplicate member names.)
I don't remember--do I already have a wiki username?
Check here.
My name's not on that list; how do I get a log-in username?
Contact webmaster.
What is my password/what if I forgot my password?
When we signed you up for the wiki, you should have received an email with your username and password. If you didn't, or have lost it:
  1. See Help:Changing your wiki password.
How can I change my wiki site password?
See Help:Changing your wiki password.

[edit] Email log-in

What is my email address?
You have two email addresses:
  • Bay Team address, to which anyone can send you email. That's your first initial plus last name @bayteam.org (for example, jsmith@bayteam.org). (But see also #About duplicate member names.)
  • Log-in address, which is your real-world address, whatever it might be. (For example, schmoopy@someplace.com; that's actually where all of your Bay Team addressed email goes anyway.)
What is my password/what if I forgot my password?
When we sign you up for various bay team email lists, passwords are generated for you for each list (so they might each be different). You should have received an email with your username and password at least for the all (at) bayteam (dog) org list. If you didn't, or have lost it:
  1. Go to the all mailing list page and then scroll down to the "All Subscribers" section.
  2. Next to the Unsubscribe or edit options button, fill in your log-in address (see above), then click that button. This displays another page.
  3. Scroll down to Your All Password and click Email my password to me.
  4. You should receive an email asking you to confirm the change. Follow the instructions.
How can I change my all email list password?
  1. Follow the preceding instructions steps 1 through 4.
  2. Under Change your password, type your new password where indicated, turn on the Change globally box (this changes it for all your bayteam mailing lists), and click Change my password.
  3. You should receive an email asking you to confirm the change. Follow the instructions.

[edit] What if I'm still having problems?

Tip
For security reasons, we webmasters need to create your logins for you. So if you don't already know your log-in username and password for something, email webmaster (at) bayteam (dot) org.

If you have problems with your logins, send email to webmaster (at) bayteam (dot) org. We're eager to help.

Some people have had no problems with anything; some people have given up in frustration because something doesn't work for them (usually on the forum). We don't want this to happen, so please ask before you go nuts and smoke starts coming from your ears. (And sometimes things are broken and we need to know about it.)

[edit] About duplicate member names

If your first initial plus last name duplicates an existing Bay Teamer's username, we'll usually append a number to it for you, and let you know what yours is.
