The Bay Team Starters Cup is the latest in our long history of offering special awards for Novice or Starters dogs at our agility trials.

[edit] Description

(from USDAA trial May 5-6 2007 premium)

This class is a two-round nonqualifying, nontitling tournament with emphasis on fun. Only dogs at the Starters/PI level that have not completed their Starters Standard title or Performance Standard One title may participate.

The class consists of a numbered course containing jumps (no spread jumps), open and closed tunnels, tire, dogwalk, and teeter. (Note that this equipment list excludes the A-Frame, weave poles, and spread jumps.) It will be judged under Starters rules and the top 30% of the dogs who do not eliminate will move on to a final round that will run the following day.

Scoring in each round will be a time-plus-faults basis, with a five-point penalty added to a competitor's time for each occurrence of a fallen hurdle or missed contact and a 20-point fault for running the wrong course. Performance entries will run with championship entries, since this course does not differ for performance dogs. Winners in each of the heights (8", 12", 16", 22", 26") will receive a trophy and placements. 2nd through 4th will receive a rosette.

Dogs that have attained the Starters Standard (or PS1) title prior to April 11, 2007 are not eligible to compete in the Starters Cup and will have their entry for this class refunded if they have already entered it.
