  • Assets 48,863.32
  • Liabilities (incl. unused workers certificates) - approximately 6,060.00

December 2008 Trial :

Membership Report

Barbara Snarr reported that there are approximately 30 unpaid members and that she would contact them regarding their membership for 2008.

Clothing Report

Barbara Snarr reported that she would survey the club to determine if anyone wanted to buy Bay Team clothing and she will send email to the membership when the information is available.

Equipment Report

Jim Basic reported that we are not planning to buy new equipment at this time. There is a possibility that we may need two broad jumps depending on rule changes. Members who have equipment concerns are encouraged to email Jim Basic regarding their requests.

Legislative Committee

Diane Blackman is chair of the Legislative Committee. She will corral the information available regarding AB1634, and similar legislative issues and report to the club. It is the club's intent to have one person send messages regarding action items in order to reduce the number of messages to be addressed regarding AB1634. If anyone would like to make an argument for taking a “club” position, the Legislative Committee will consider it. Contact Diane Blackman if you would like to be active on the committee.

2008 Trials

USDAA - January
Santa Rosa. All planning is complete. We will have Sharon Kihara judging Masters Pairs, because the entries have exceeded the limit for one judge.
CPE - March
It is still very early for statistics on this trial. Dave Connett reported that there are about 10 entrants. Peggy Clark is Chair. The committee decided to have a barbecue in the clubhouse at this event. There will be no fee for the use of the clubhouse.
USDAA - May
Twin Creeks The venue will include double snooker and double jumpers, plus Grand Prix and Steeplechase. Judges are Tim Lauback for masters and Cheryl Huffman for nonmasters. An RV czar is needed for this trial.
USDAA - July 4, 5, 6
Twin Creeks Three tournaments will be offered as well as titling at all levels. Also double jumpers and double pairs, plus Grand Prix and Steeplechase will be offered. Friday competition will be dedicated to team events. The two masters judges will be Patty Drom and Peggy Hammond. Staters/Advaned judge is Jelinda Pepper. A barbecue will be scheduled for Friday the 4th.
CPE - July
Petaluma. CPE fees will be increased at this trial. Fees will be charged on a “per RUN” basis rather than a “per DOG” basis.
USDAA - September
Twin Creeks We will have 5 rings on Saturday to accommodate all of the team events and Grand Prix. Sunday and Monday we will need only four rings per day. Judges will be Scott Chamberlain, Mark and Sharon Wirant, and two remaining judges are yet to be hired.
December - USDAA
Santa Rosa. Katrina Parkinson gave the following information. Titling for all three levels. Two judges will be needed. Diane Carson is requested.

A discussion followed regarding the ratio of Master's to Non-masters judges that USDAA requires. If a USDAA trial hires more than one judge, USDAA requires that at least one of the judges be a nonmasters judge. This encourages clubs to give experience to help train new judges. Karey's argument is that the rule doesn't make sense if a multi-judge trial is only offering tournament classes (GP and team require masters; only steeplechase uses nonmasters judges) in which only 16% of the runs can be judged by a nonmasters judge. The ratio gets even more unbalanced if you add in regular titling classes in which masters classes have 100 runs and standard/advanced classes have less than half that. Jim Basic recommended that Karey Krauter send a list of recommendations to him and he will report them to the USDAA Board. Jim also recommended that the BT pay the clinic fee for a Bay Teamer wanting to become a USDAA judge.

The date of the December USDAA trial was also discussed. Katrina requested that the trial be moved to be held on the same weekend as the AKC Invitational (usually the first weekend in Dec.). The second weekend in December would be her second choice for the USDAA trial.

Old Business

Mike Scannell reported that we still have Bay Team mugs available. Please take one or more.
