[edit] Running a trial

Here are some articles about running a trial, based on The Bay Team's experiences.

[edit] Committee and workers

[edit] Job descriptions for agility trial ring help (from old site--needs review)

  • We hand this list of job descriptions to volunteers on the day of a trial, along with verbal instructions. You are welcome to use this information. (Or download in nicely formatted PDF (77K).)
  • There are more descriptions of these and other jobs at the Dogpatch's Agility Articles page under the Agility Trialing articles list.

[edit] Job descriptions for Show Committee members (from old site--needs review)

  • Summary of what Show Committee members do. We're just starting this document. You are welcome to use this information. (Currently available for download only in PDF (55K).)
  • Score Table Guru Summary: A very rough text addendum to the above.
  • Trial Secretary detailed tasks: Step-by-step from the day entries start coming in.
  • Secretary's distribution list: A PDF file listing (in esoteric terms, sorry my fault) who needs to get what information from you at what time.
  • Equipment Manager Summary: Phrased as a call for assistance
  • Crew Chief Summary: Phrased as a call for assistance
  • Lunch Czar Summary: Phrased as a call for assistance
  • Judges Hospitality, Workers Hospitality, and Ice Queen: Actually probably several people can split these tasks, but there is some interrelation.
  • Awards Czar Summary: Phrased as a call for assistance
  • Awards Job Details: All the steps, who to contact, what to do and when
  • Awards Spreadsheet: An excel spreadsheet set up for USDAA; you input how many entries you expect and it helps you figure out how many ribbons to order.
Read the first page for more info; click on tabs at bottom for various calcs and histories. You can use Sept's catalog or this May's catalog to fill in how many entries for each level, class, and height in the main Ribbon Estimator table and then it calculates ribbons for you. However, you'll want to check with your show chair(s) to see whether they think those are reasonable numbers to use.

NOTE: When you open it, it says it has links to another workbook. Just say "NO" when it asks. It'll probably ask every time, dang it. I'll have to fix it later.

  • Ribbon Label Printer: A Word file with "generic" labels set up for one specific USDAA trial/judges--but you can see how it's set up and maybe use global find/replace to fill in your own trial's info.
  • Club member Diane Blackman's site also has job descriptions.
  • There are additional detailed descriptions at Dogpatch (above) and at the DART club show info page.
