How about openings in regular agility classes?

Discussion by email Dec 4, 2007:

From Ellen to Board
OK, I consider the Bay Team email policy to be a work in progress. People will ask "is it OK if I..." and we'll figure it out as time goes on.
(On the web site, if you click the "email/log in/sys admin" link on the left side or type "email" into the search box, you shd get a page that will take you there. )
Currently, "Training: Regularly scheduled agility class sessions." is in the no-no list; this is to avoid having every instructor in the BT every 4 to 8 weeks post a notice to the list that they have classes available.
Jim Basic is asking about whether it's OK to post about class openings. Maybe this is something that people want to know and we should say that it's OK.
What do you folks think?
From Barbara S
I think those posts are fine. These are usually "specialty" classes and people unaffiliated with Power Paws might not know about these classes.
But I agree that "normal" agility classes shouldn't be posted.

I dunno, with all the new people coming into bay team (and the sport) and with the demand for classes and wait lists and stuff, maybe it's not a bad idea for teachers to post when they have openings...

We [board] were discussing this yesterday and agreed to the following:
  • Allow BT trainers to periodically (2-3 times per year) notify the membership of new classes or class openings.
Ellen changes posted policy; see article page for details.
